week twenty-three

June 4 - 10, 2017

"After all," Anne had said to Marilla once, "I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

week twenty-two

May 28 - June 3, 2017

We've entered a new season where Travis is licensed and able to set out on his own. We're not in the front seat anymore, and it's a (bittersweet) joy to get to watch him venture out.

week twenty

May 14 - 20, 2017

"I venture to suggest not what is practical in any household, but what seems to me absolutely best for the children, in that in the faith that mothers work wonders once they are convinced that wonders are demanded of them."  - Charlotte Mason

Our favorite finch family.

week nineteen

May 7 - May 13, 2017

"Why are such early memories so strong? People will say it is because the small child has nothing else to think about, and so everything he encounters will strike him as wonderous. First, everything is indeed wondrous; the child sees things only as they are. But the things are filled with meaning because they spring from a place of love."

   - Anthony Esolen, Life Under Compulsion

week eighteen

April 30 - May 6, 2017

Jack. He's never met a challenge he didn't want to accept. He's strong, capable, and very determined (which I'm told will be a great combination of traits in a man... if he makes it). His laugh is contagious, his hugs are fierce, and snuggling is still his favorite. He's an endearing sweetheart. Eight.

Eli. When he was a baby his grandpa would always say, "Even his eyes are smiling!" He's full of joy, he laughs quickly and easily, and he's the first to notice a sad heart (and offer a comforting hug). He always has a question stirring in his mind. He's quick to offer help whenever he sees need. He plays the role of Family Baby so well. Six.

Birthday Buddies

week seventeen

April 23 - 29, 2017

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself through Christ, not counting their sins against them."

2 Corinthians 5:17-19
